(The Last) Technology Push

The tail end of April ... a full on time for Design and Technology teachers around the country as deadlines for controlled assessments loom! The panic as students can't remember where they put their specification sheets (and therefore can't evaluate)! The quest to find a safe place to keep the Graphic Products practical work where it won't get crushed ...

I still have another week of the Easter break to go (although it's Easter School from tomorrow onwards), but many teachers will be making that last push to get things completed and marked this week.

The week before Easter, this slide was constantly on my board reminding students of the important sheets that get left out of controlled assessment folders. We use AQA, so other boards may have different requirements ...

That last week of term was all about the students ensuring that their folders were in order and these sheets had been included.

For the next GCSE cohort I need to think about how we can get these sheets done promptly ... they're the sheets that don't involve research or design so need 'selling' to the students, so that's my challenge ... for now, marking beckons!

So I started another blog ...

I wrote my first blog post on 13th November 2009, so I've been on Blogger for a while ... in a dreamy haze of jewellery making, knitting, crochet and my general love of anything hands-on and creative.
Writing my craft and design blog has encouraged me to do new things ... to experiment, try new techniques, to perfect my practical skills ... you photograph the process and the outcome ... and then you write about it ... on your blog ...

Hang on, that sounds exactly like the sort of thing I encourage my students to do in their Design and Technology lessons ...

And it sounds a bit like the way I reflect on a days teaching and learning at work ... I think about what's worked and what needs to be improved for next time and I write up my planning for the next day.

So, if it can work for crafting, maybe it can help with teaching and learning. I'm hoping to share things that work for me, show inspirational ideas for the design world and anything else that comes my way.
The main difference is I'm going to be worried sick about my spelling and my overuse of full stops ...
